Christmas is coming, and for many of us that means our thoughts and expectations turn toward…presents. Either we are children, or we become like children again, eager to rip off the wrapping paper and see what various friends and family members have gotten us for Christmas. And, we watch happily as family members open the presents we have given to them, looking forward to seeing the joy and excitement on their faces as the receive their gifts. Gifts are not out of place at Christmas, but the real reason for Christmas is a greater gift, in fact the greatest gift of all. God, in His love, sent His Son Jesus to be our Savior. This gift, wrapped not in shiny decorative paper but wrapped in simple swaddling clothes, is the real reason for Christmas, and our greatest gift. So, this Christmas, as you give and receive gifts, remember why we give presents at this time of year. It is because God gave us the greatest Christmas present ever-His eternal love wrapped up in the baby born in Bethlehem. In Him we have the gifts of love, forgiveness, and eternal life. Enjoy this Christmas gift above all else!
In Christ, Pastor Clayton
